In our group classes...

What to expect in-studio.

Spaces fill up fast!

Students work individually and sometimes as a group in our group classes, utilizing assigned method books. They develop a firm foundation in music reading, theory, and playing skills. All classes have highly trained instructors! Contact us for more information on our group classes.

BENEFITS OF GROUP LESSONS: Students enjoy being with their peers and prefer a more interactive environment. One of the most significant advantages we've seen over the years is that our students are more confident performers. By regularly performing for their classmates, students learn the joys of sharing music very early on, making recitals much less intimidating.

  1. 50-min classes with low student-teacher ratio
  2. Small group classes based on level and age
  3. Students progress at their own pace
  4. Individualized and tailored lessons
  5. Theory incorporated into every lesson
  6. Flexible Make-up Policy
  7. No enrollment or registration fees
  8. Cost Efficient

                                         Private Lessons

PRIVATE LESSONS:  For Intermediate to advanced students.  For new students with previous experience, contact us to schedule an assessment.  Results will determine the best placement for the student. If a student is already in group classes, their teacher as well as the director of FPA may recommend private lessons when a student is ready. (Please feel free to ask if a student is ready for private lessons).

In Our Private Lessons

Our private lessons are available at various times, Monday-Saturday. Grand pianos are available for private lessons. Please request an assessment appointment for the best placement.

Our private students are eligible to participate in the Certificate of Merit Program

Folsom Piano Academy offers students who wish to participate in the annual Certificate of Merit testing through the Music Teachers Association of California the opportunity to prepare with us.

Additional Theory Classes are offered in the Fall for the CM program.  Please contact our office for more information.

BENEFITS OF GROUP LESSONS:

  1. All private instructors hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in Music and are active members of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC).
  2. Private students can enhance their musicianship by focusing on advanced pianistic skills, refining subtle techniques and artistry.
  3. Private students are eligible to participate in the Certificate of Merit (CM) annual evaluation program, organized by MTAC, to assess their progress.
  4. Private students have the chance to engage with peers and gain performance experience through 4 quarterly performance workshops held throughout the year.
  5. Private students are offered the opportunity to perform in additional recitals beyond the two recitals provided for all students.
  6. Students enrolled in CM can opt to take Theory classes, allowing teachers to focus on performance and technique during lesson time rather than theory.

                                           Adult Lessons

Our adult lessons are available at various times, Monday through Saturday, in group settings for beginners to early-intermediate and private lessons for intermediate to more advanced players. Please contact the office to schedule an assessment if you have previous piano experience.

In Our Adult Lessons

Signing up for piano lessons as an adult offers many benefits, whether you're looking for a new hobby or personal growth. Here are five reasons to give it a try:

  1. Cognitive Benefits: Enhance memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills.
  2. Stress Relief: Playing music helps reduce anxiety and promotes relaxation.
  3. Emotional Expression: Music is an excellent outlet for expressing emotions and creativity.
  4. Improved Coordination: Strengthens hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  5. Sense of Accomplishment: Achieve personal goals and boost self-confidence.

Have you heard of the Piano Club? This is an excellent opportunity to join your peers and share some music.

The general idea is to allow everyone to practice playing in front of an audience. Still, in this case, the audience is all friendly, non-judgemental piano players just like you (all adult students, no teachers).

It's never too late to start, and the rewards are worth it!
